Head east out of Downtown Austin and you will notice the landscape begins to change. McDade ISD and Elgin ISD serve the students of the city. Vista Academy, Neidig Elementary, and the Booker T Washington Elementary School provide education services for younger students. Phoenix High School, Elgin High School and Elgin Middle offer education to middle and high schoolers. In 2013, Austin Community College opened an impressive campus that offers technical and vocational programs, as well as preparatory courses and associate degrees.
